Woodturning Display

Most work was full of technical skill but lacking in imagination and creativity and some of the forms were of dubious proportions. another idea could be to teach French on the youth training programmes and encourage the participants to join the AFTB and learn some creative skills from them. The exhibition itself with a few exceptions was dull and predictable. Woodturning as Fine Art. After we got Ella to bed tonight I headed out to the lathe and turned two more pens. There were two or three wizards and lots of uninteresting wood forms of a smooth and polished appearance.

I live in the western North Carolina mountains at 3900 foot elevation. It was also great to see Binh Phos actual work rather than the less significant imitations around at the moment woodturners. I work out of my studio that is part of my house. With a few exceptions I saw nothing that fitted with contemporary vision found in other craft disciplines woodturners.
